Scotland call up for Newlands lad
Charlie Longergan will play a key role in Scotland’s under 16 team in the Wellington International Rugby Festival against England and Wales.
The centre told ExtraSport: “I feel honoured to to represent my country.I’m looking forward to the challenges the festival will present.”

Hide AdThe 16-year-old, who captains the St Aloysius’ College rugby team, entered the radar of selectors when he led his school to theU16 Scottish cup final last season.
He continued to enhance his reputation when he returned to Murrayfield to play for Glasgow in a select match against Edinburgh.
Last week, the southsider confirmed his name on the team sheet with a dazzling display against Newcastle Falcons, when his two tries helped the age grade national side to a 40-3 win.
He added: “It was a good match. The process has been challenging but enjoyable. I’m very glad I was selected.”

Hide AdThe team, who travel on Friday, will face Wales (East) on Sunday, England (North) on Wednesday and England Saxons on April 19.
Scotland U16 head coach Gary Mercer said: “We’ve selected an exciting squad with a lot of individual flair and talent.
“This is a great opportunity for this group to play at a very competitive level.”
