Gordon Cowan charity golf day raises £9811

A CHARITY golf day organised by former Scotland goalkeeper Rab Douglas and his friend Graeme Matthew has raised an astonishing £9811 in memory of their childhood pal Gordon Cowan.

The Lanark Golf Club event, won by Derek Flynn's team from the Lanark barber's, was contested by 21 quartets who contributed towards the massive cheque for the Beatson Oncology Centre Fund.

The mum of Gordon (a young man who died from a tumour at the age of 24 in 1997), was thrilled that the tournament managed to raise so much in her son's name.
