Provost visits Malawi
Desks, chairs and PE equipment will be ‘hand delivered’ by council officials Provost Jim Robertson and Councillor Jim Logue who are set to visit Malawi in October as part of a charitable programme.
Provost Robertson explained: “The charitable programme we are supporting, Aiming Higher in Malawi which has been designed in North Lanarkshire by our own Healthy Lifestyle Project, are running a tremendously important health and education campaign which deserves all the help we can give.

The councillors, who are paying their own way to the tiny land-locked state, will meet leading education officials from the Malawian government.
The Healthy Lifestyle Project aims to help empower the young people, and in particularly girls in the region to stop negative social attitudes, end harmful traditional practices and support educational opportunities.
One of the projects, Mother Groups, encourage those living in the local communities to support the rights of young women to a decent education, combat HIV and tackle extreme poverty.
