Cumbernauld street sealed off in dog drama
The terrifying incident unfolded at a home in Carbrain’s Torbrex Road on 8pm on Saturday.
The animal which is a powerful American Pit Bull could not be contained by its injured keepers, officers on patrol or a specialist dog handler.

Hide AdAlthough those responsible for the dog succeeded in removing the animal from the house, they called police who enlisted the expertise of the handler.
However, the snarling animal made a run for it and was traced to a back garden – and a police cordon had to be thrown off to protect members of the public.
Officers were forced into making the decision as to whether the dog could be removed safely from the area.
They concluded that this was too risky for fear that the beast would lash out further and a vet, in turn, was summoned.

Hide AdThe vet bravely entered the cordon and tranquilised the animal which was then put to sleep.
Police say that all those bitten were taken to hospital
The dog owner, a 36-year-old man has been the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.
