Paula Russell, prosecuting, said there had been a row between the men, but Mr Burns didn’t raise his hands while Sexton threw a punch.

Defence agent Alan Murray said his client, a first offender, reacted after being told Mr Burns had touched his girlfriend.

Mr Murray said video footage showed a “scrum” involving relatives of Sexton’s girlfriend and Mr Burns and his friends.

Sexton came forward to throw a punch in the middle of it all, Mr Murray added.
