CASH are walking a faithful tribute line
According to the (latest) man behind the guitar: “There are two types of people in this world: those who like Johnny Cash and those that don’t know a damn thing about music.”
So far, so rock and roll — and so Johnny Cash.
Frontman Ben Welburn is a fan first and foremost, claiming a deep connection with the man’s music and lyrics — as well as with his working class ideals and less-than-perfect reputation.

Hide AdThe idea is to spread the word about Cash’s greatest hits — and Ben and his faithful backing band seem to be doing a good job, as they’re following up last February’s successful tour with another nine date run of O2 venues across the UK.
Expect a dusting down of all of Cash’s greatest hits, from Walk the Line and Ring of Fire to Folsom Prison Blues and A Boy Named Sue.
On the idea behind the tribute act, Ben commented: “I would pay my respects to the man by getting his stuff out there again, reaching out to established and new fans — but in no way would I try to be him.
“That’s just not doable in my eyes.”
The CASH frontman may think not, but audiences flocking to hear a recreation of the Johnny Cash sound and vibe might disagree.
Find out for yourself at the O2 ABC on Saturday (February 1).
Doors are open at 6.30pm and tickets are £11 from 0844 477 2000 or www.ticketweb. co.uk.
